ACTIVATE CUSTOMER-CENTRIC TEAMS Healthcare

How can we redesign immunisation records and supply chains to meet the needs of stakeholders?

To minimise preventable deaths, a major player in global healthcare development aimed to improve immunisation rates across Cameroon, Ethiopia, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda and Uganda.

To meet this challenge, we engaged with cross-country caregivers, health workers and administrators to understand their day-to-day needs. We then led an immersive workshop with national health officials to co-create new solutions and share best practices in the funding, production and distribution of vaccines.

CHALLENGE

Health agencies in Africa operate autonomously. Our client wanted to bring them together to share best practices and reflect on ways to improve vaccine-related health outcomes. Of specific interest was the design, functionality and distribution of children´s health cards.

APPROACH

We conducted research to uncover the unmet needs of caregivers, health workers and administrators. We then led open innovation workshops to help local, regional and global health administrators and experts adopt a user-centred approach to revitalise the design of the health cards, vaccination supply chains and programmes.

We focused on developing empathy amongst all stakeholders, providing a clear understanding of our process and methodologies. We aligned the objectives of various stakeholders to ensure continued momentum within each country.

IMPACT

After a four-day workshop, we equipped each participating country representative with a compelling business case to gain buy-in of new supply chain initiatives and solutions back home.

All country participants left the workshop with clear action plans, detailed arguments for key decision-makers and high-fidelity digital prototypes of their improved records.
